Enfield care home residents see spots before their eyes thanks to gorgeous puppy duo’s visit

14 November 2024

Two delightful Dalmatian puppies paid a surprise visit to Bullsmoor Lodge Care Home in Enfield recently, sharing joy and love with the residents.

Although they are born completely spotless, Dalmatians are easily recognisable for their distinctive coat pattern of black or liver-coloured spots on white fur, and these puppies, called Daisy and Dave, were no exception.

The delightful duo that visited Bullsmoor Lodge were from Performing Pets, who specialise in supplying pets and other animals for film, theatre, media, therapy, education and special events.

Owner of Performing Pets, Des Jordan, said: “Performing Pets have been visiting Bullsmoor Lodge for a few years now, bringing in different animals every month for animal assisted therapy sessions. This month, because we are working on the UK tour of 101 Dalmatians The Musical, we thought it would be a lovely idea to share our Dalmatian puppies with the residents.

“Daisy and Dave are little spotted bodies of energy that confidently bounded around the home, creating lots of fun and laughter and obviously plenty of cuddles too.

“Dalmatians are quite an old-fashioned breed, so the residents were able to reminisce and share lovely memories with us. Our work creates amazing benefits for the mental wellbeing of our clients.

“Multiple studies have proven that animal assisted therapy used in the correct way, with happy, healthy confident animals, improves mood, reduces developing depression and can support in decreasing feelings of anxiety and sadness, as well as increasing physical activity.

“We are very passionate about working with our residents at Bullsmoor Lodge, building bonds that create comfort and familiarity, and they look forward to our visits every month.”
