Residents and staff at Five Oaks care home in Barnet spent a delightful day recently, strolling through Trent Park joined by four members of the local police force.
During a recent emergency services coffee morning at the care home, officers has promised to return and join residents for a walk – and they were true to their word. “We soaked up the beautiful sunshine, admired the wildlife and made new friends with our lovely local police officers,” said care home manager Rahima Mulindwa.
“It’s so interesting to find out more about what the police do to keep us safe, and our residents love talking to them.”
Residents Marilyn and Ansuya were delighted to walk and talk with their local bobbies: “It was really lovely,” said Marilyn. “I feel very safe having them around.”
Ansuya said: “I so enjoyed walking with our local police officers and appreciating the fresh air.”
There are already plans for more of the same. “Steve, the PCSO, mentioned how much he and his colleagues appreciate visiting us at Five Oaks and asked when we were having another coffee morning,” said Rahima. “We’ve gone one better and invited him back for a cream tea when we have our next residents’ garden party!”
Five Oaks is a purpose-built residential care home for the elderly owned by AgeCare Care Homes. It has 44 ensuite bedrooms and is situated five minutes from Junction 24 of the M25 on the Cockfosters Road in Hadley Wood, Barnet.
