Forget the January blues – residents at Waterbeach Lodge care home just outside Cambridge enjoyed an energetic jive session recently with local entertainers Jukebox Legends.
Peter Day and Fiona McLean of Jukebox Legends visit Cambridge care homes and over-60s day clubs to bring fun to the residents with songs they all know and love to sing and dance to. The award-winning duo perform a wide variety of songs from the 1950s to the 1970s.
They have been visiting Waterbeach Lodge for several years and will return for more dates in 2025 by popular demand. Residents always have a great time singing and dancing to their favourite songs. Irene said: “I always enjoy them. I go along to dance and sing with Peter,” while Audrey praised their “wonderful music” and said she always had a “fun time” during their visits.
Lynn Ward, Care Home Manager at Waterbeach Lodge, said: “Music and movement are so important as we get older. There are so many benefits, including improvements in co-ordination and balance, as well as the emotional boost that comes with hearing our favourite tunes. We always love having Jukebox Legends here – the staff are as delighted to join in as the residents!”
