A Day in the Life
Join us for an insight into what life is like at Millway House in Andover.
Millway House is a welcoming nursing home located in Weyhill, near Andover, Hampshire. We offer high-quality residential, nursing and dementia care for older people.
Set within a beautifully restored country house, Millway House combines a traditional setting with personalised care tailored to meet each individual’s needs.
Our History
Millway House began as a large family home on the outskirts of Weyhill, originally owned by the Hartigan family and later by the Baldings. It was converted into a residential home for older people in the 1980s. Following an extension in 2008, it became the nursing and care home it is today.
The property has a rich history and a strong connection to the world of horse racing – something still reflected in elements of the home today.
Millway Today
Millway House retains the welcoming feel of a family country home, with interiors designed for comfort and familiarity. It offers cosy communal spaces, well-appointed bedrooms, and a peaceful atmosphere where residents can enjoy life at their own pace.
Our extensive landscaped gardens and outdoor areas provide space for relaxation, fresh air and light activities. We also proudly celebrate the history of the house, with communal areas named after horses and races, along with displays of memorabilia reflecting its illustrious past.
We provide a home for 55 residents – a place rooted in the local community that offers everyone who lives and works here a lively, loving and caring environment. Our engaging activity programme promotes mental stimulation, physical wellbeing, emotional happiness and strong community ties.
A Gentle Start
Here’s a look at a typical day.
Mornings begin with a nutritious breakfast and views of our gardens, where the changing seasons are reflected in the flowers and fauna.
Enjoy a morning cuppa with the daily papers in one of our quiet spaces, or join fellow residents for conversation. Our gardens and patios are perfect for relaxing in the fresh air, weather permitting or take a gentle stroll down to our Summer House.
Movement & Mealtimes
We offer a range of activities both mornings and afternoons and there is something for everyone. Gentle seated exercise classes and yoga provide a good morning routine.
Lunchtime offers the opportunity to enjoy a delicious and nutritious three course meal prepared by our on-site team in one of our two dining rooms. There is always plenty of choice and the company of fellow residents to enjoy.
We actively encourage resident participation in events, celebrations, and local traditions. Arts and crafts activities, gardening and musical entertainment are often on offer in the afternoons and from time-to-time excursions to local places of interest. Enjoy visits from family, friends and pets, or book in at the hair salon for some pampering.
Relaxing evenings
Evening time offers a chance to join others in our bistro-style dining space which includes historical artwork, information and photographs that showcase the heritage of the home or join one of our Race Nights that celebrate its racing history.
Each day is special in our home, and you can always be assured of excellent and attentive care. We look forward to welcoming you.
