Waterbeach Lodge is a stunning, purpose-built residential care home set in six acres of beautifully landscaped gardens with views over the surrounding countryside.

The original site was established in 1818, becoming a Convent for Nuns of the Carmelite Order in the early 1900’s.  From the 1970s onwards the property has had various uses with many of the original buildings being left derelict.  The estate was lovingly rebuilt, and the result is our impressive, modern and welcoming care home close to Cambridge, with a rich sense of history.

Waterbeach Lodge is conveniently located just off the A10 Ely Road in the village of Waterbeach on the edge of The Fens in South Cambridgeshire. Just six miles north of Cambridge city centre, the village also has a railway station with links to Cambridge and Ely. Waterbeach Lodge provides excellent access for families searching for a care home near Cambridge or in the wider Cambridgeshire area.

Older people who need day-to-day support can enjoy residential care in comfort within an elegant living environment.

For recovery after a hospital stay or as a temporary measure for families needing care support, we offer short term (respite) care lasting from one day to six weeks.
For those living with memory-related conditions, Waterbeach Lodge has dedicated facilities to provide specialist dementia care in a secure, supportive space.

Exceptional Facilities & Comfortable Living

No expense has been spared on the home’s interior, where every detail has been designed to provide residents and visitors with the ambience of a top-class Cambridgeshire care home.

The house offers 46 spacious and tastefully decorated, ensuite bedrooms, thoughtfully designed to offer contemporary comfort, privacy and accessibility. The rooms are equipped television facilities, alongside state-of-the-art adjustable orthopaedic beds and an emergency call system.

Each bedroom boasts full en-suite facilities, and due to the large floor plan of each suite, there are no restrictions when using wheelchairs or hoists.

The top floor is now dedicated to dementia care.

The ground floor lounge has been designed to offer an area in which Residents can meet and converse, partake in daily activities or simply enjoy the peaceful views of the local wildlife, flowers and fauna in our extensive gardens and grounds.

Aside from the spacious dining room, there is a comfortable lounge with a bar and a quieter, study area with direct access out onto the patio. Also on the ground floor is a pretty conservatory and a hair salon.

Our gardens and patio areas are wheelchair friendly and can be enjoyed all year round, offering extensive views and plenty of places to sit.

Waterbeach Lodge is fully accessible, with modern passenger lifts for each access to all floors.
