Everyone loves a singalong and the staff and residents at Millway House care home in Andover are no exception. To celebrate VE Day 80 in style, they invited their favourite musical theatre duo George & Ginger to sing all the hits of the 1940s.
Claire Lousteau, care home manager at Millway House, said: “We had such a lovely afternoon. Fabulous duo George & Ginger donned their forces uniforms and sang all the classics of the day, while everyone joined in. Afterwards, we had a delicious selection of afternoon tea treats including sausage rolls, corned beef sandwiches and a giant Victoria sponge.”
“We performed at Millway House a few years ago and the residents and staff were so lovely. Since Covid we’ve taken a break, but with the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II we thought it was a nice time to spread some cheer and help people celebrate this important milestone.
“We love performing at Millway House. It may sound corny but honestly, seeing people sing and dance along means so much to us. We try to put a lot of thought and energy into our shows. We adore hearing people’s stories and connections to an era that was so historic. Music and songs help to bring those memories back and we feel honoured that people choose to share them with us.”
