What’s included in the cost of care?

22 August 2025

The cost of care and what is included depends initially on the type of care needed, residential care, nursing care or specialised care, such as dementia. This denotes the type of accommodation required and facilities needed in the room.

However, the comprehensive range of facilities and services are the same across all our homes and are more extensive than is perhaps initially apparent. Here we look more closely at what we provide for all our residents.

We offer 24-hour care, seven days a week with emergency call facilities. This provides reassurance for our residents and their families. Peace of mind is something you cannot put a price on but plays a huge part in care home living and the level of service that we provide at AgeCare Care Homes.

Our exceptional care homes cater for and provide bespoke care for the elderly that includes lovely, comfortable bedrooms and warm and welcoming communal spaces, furnished to high standards. Our residents can furnish their rooms with favourite items such as pictures and paintings, soft furnishings but all key pieces of furniture and linens are provided along with a television, and emergency call system.

The communal areas vary from home to home but generally include a television lounge, spacious dining room and other spaces for reading or sharing a cup of tea and a chat.

Meals are freshly prepared at each of our homes using fresh and seasonal produce and offer a choice at all meals. Special dietary requirements are of course catered for and visitors are welcome to join us for lunch*. We also ensure there are drinks and snacks available throughout the day for everyone to enjoy.

Our chefs create special treats for birthdays* and other special occasions, fete days or key calendar events such as Easter and Christmas.

In-room service is available for those who need or prefer to eat in their rooms and we also provide daily papers* as requested.

Our housekeeping staff ensure our homes are not only clean and tidy but safe and free of obstacles and that everything is placed where it should be. Where applicable, spaces are dementia friendly. Our gardening and maintenance teams work hard to provide outdoor spaces that are user-friendly and accessible for all, whilst ensuring all our systems are running and up to date. In 2023 we installed some of the latest technology available, introducing digital systems to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the care we provide.

A personal laundry service is offered to all residents and all personal care needs are catered for. We provide hairdressing*, chiropodist*, dentist* and optician* appointments on-site with frequent GP visits as necessary.

Our care also includes a wide range of daily activities, such as art and crafts, light exercise and keep fit classes, music and entertainment. We arrange for a variety of local people and businesses to visit, such as animal and pet sanctuaries, musicians and local VIPs, all this helps to stimulate conversation and continue connections with the wider community.

Most importantly we treat each of our residents and all those in our care on an individual basis. This includes preparing tailored care plans, and our excellent staff to resident ratio ensures someone is always there for a chat, a walk or a cup of tea.

The cost of care covers all the above. If you would like to find out for yourself what we offer, give us a call and we would love to show you around one of our homes.

*Please note charges may be incurred.
