Millway House is a leading care home in Weyhill, Andover, Hampshire, offering high-quality residential care, nursing care, and dementia care for older people. Set in a beautifully restored country house, Millway House Care Home combines a traditional setting with high-quality, nursing care to meet individual needs.

Millway House began as a large family home, originally owned by the Hartigan family and later by the Baldings. It was converted into a residential home for older people in the 1980s. Following an extension in 2008, it became the nursing and care home it is today and still retains the welcoming feel of a private country-style home.

Claire Lousteau

Claire has worked in healthcare for more than 35 years and joined Millway House in 2021 as Home Manager. Claire brings a wealth of experience to her role and excels in leading the team at this nurse-led care home.

Claire qualified as a nurse in 1985 and after a few years working abroad spent 25 years as a staff nurse before becoming a Senior Sister at Salisbury District Hospital. She has always been passionate about working with older people and has worked with the care home sector since 2009, commissioning and managing care homes.

At Millway House Claire leads her team of nurses and carers with professionalism and dedication. She works to ensure a quality service in an environment where she can get to know the residents and their families, supporting an approach that focuses on providing a home from home for residents whilst still meeting individual healthcare needs.

Millway House retains the welcoming feel of a family country home, with interiors designed for comfort and familiarity. It offers cozy communal spaces, well-appointed bedrooms, and a peaceful atmosphere where residents can enjoy life at their own pace.

Our extensive landscaped gardens, garden room and outdoor areas provide space for relaxation, fresh air and light activities. We also proudly celebrate the history of the house and its rich history and connection to the world of horse racing, with communal areas named after horses and races, along with displays of memorabilia reflecting its illustrious past.

Millway House provides a home for 55 residents. A spacious and airy dining room is modern and inviting with an outdoor patio for enjoying sitting outside when weather permits. Large windows provide lots of natural light bringing the outdoors in. Bedrooms are modern, full of light and tastefully decorated using colour and tasteful fabrics.

There is ease of access throughout the building which is served by two modern passenger lifts.

Life at Millway House

At Millway House we offer a varied and engaging activity programme that promotes mental stimulation, physical wellbeing and emotional happiness. Whether it’s gardening, music, crafts or social clubs, every resident is encouraged to join in. For those preferring quiet time, there are rooms for reading, watching television or enjoying the views out onto our grounds.

Communal rooms are names in honour of the home’s history, with tributes to the families who lived here. Our bistro-style dining room includes historical artwork, information and photographs providing sense of heritage and belonging.

We believe in the importance of staying connected. As a nursing home rooted in the Weyhill community, we actively encourage resident participation in events, celebrations and local traditions.

Our Memory Choir visit Winchester University to sing with the choir and we welcome musicians into the home every month. G4 Fitness provide light exercise sessions, and we work with Dig for Dementia who provide supportive gardening workshops for people with dementia.

We have a lovely relationship with the nearby Farleigh School where we visit to watch sporting events and have a Pen Pal initiative in place. We regularly get out and about visiting Andover Museum, Wallop Air Museum, Charlton Lakes and the Hawk Conservancy and organise a daily walk into the village to feed the ducks.

Our local WI make knee warmers and muffs, and our residents are busy knitting blankets for the Dogs Trust. Friday afternoons we run a Movie Club.

Working closely with the community brings joy and meaningful experiences to our residents, enriching their days and adding new opportunities for discussion and learning.

Millway House proudly achieved Veteran Friendly Framework (VFF) Accreditation in 2025, affirming our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant and specialist veteran care. We recognise and support residents who have served including the Andover Veteran Breakfast Club and the Army Breakfast Club 26 Engineers Regiment and have a monthly tea for veterans in the local community. Helping to ensure veterans feel valued, connected and confidently cared for.
